Gr4vy wins ‘Best Cloud Payments Solution’ at The PayTech Awards

Gr4vy’s cloud-native payment orchestration platform has been awarded ‘Best Cloud Payments Solution’ at this year’s PayTech Awards. Now in its fifth year, Fintech Futures’ PayTech Awards recognizes excellence and innovation in the use of IT in the finance and payment industry worldwide, and winners are selected by a panel of judges from across the industry.

Gr4vy was selected for its role in helping merchants to overcome the challenges that come with international expansion and the need to build an increasingly complex payment infrastructure. Merchants of all sizes responding to the explosive growth of various payment methods and processors has led to technical debt, inflexibility, regulatory difficulty, and ultimately limits a merchant’s ability to serve customers as they scale.

Gr4vy’s infrastructure gives merchants the ability to expand and control their payment stack from anywhere through a single Universal API. The platform’s single-tenant cloud infrastructure also reduces points of failure to ensure that a merchant never loses a transaction, and can also spin up an Edge to any instance and deploy it where needed, regardless of location, to help merchants meet regional data privacy and protection regulations.

Designed with advanced capabilities and benefits, Gr4vy’s service agnostic and universal capabilities across PCI-level 1 payment credential vaulting, 3D Secure, tokenization, Apple Pay, Google Pay and more ensures that merchants always have the flexibility they need across their payments stack.

Unlike other POPs, Gr4vy makes it easy to move between service providers seamlessly with just a few clicks. And Gr4vy’s no-code infrastructure enables merchants to orchestrate payments and risk management services across multiple providers — making it easy to deploy, test and learn what services work best for their business and scale.

Gr4vy partners with Boku and EBANX to simplify international expansion for merchants

Gr4vy has partnered with Boku and EBANX to quickly give merchants access to local payment methods in new geographies. These partnerships will fuel international growth and revenue while reducing risk, resource burden and the overall total cost of ownership.

Merchants can now access billions of emerging market consumers across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Importantly, this comes at a time when the transaction value of digital commerce in Latin America is projected to increase 73%, and payment revenue in APAC is forecasted to reach $935 billion by 2025.

“Until now, merchants have had to build individual integrations for each new local payment method they wish to support in each new market they enter. At Gr4vy, we wanted to make it easy for merchants to expand their payments strategy into new markets,” said John Lunn, Founder and CEO of Gr4vy. “Bringing these new partnerships to the Gr4vy platform means merchants can now easily offer localized payment methods and services in new geographies, without writing code or the need for large developer teams.”

Through its partnership with EBANX, a payments platform that works with large global brands such as Shein, Amazon, Shopee and Uber, Gr4vy merchants now have access to one of the biggest user bases in Latin America (estimated 100 million customers by end of 2022). EBANX and Gr4vy will enable merchants to increase revenue in the fast-growth region with an end-to-end local payment solution that meets local consumer payment preferences, including debit and credit cards, bank transfers, and digital wallets.

With Gr4vy’s Boku connector, merchants can access its M1ST Payments Network, consisting of 350+ local mobile payment methods, including popular app-based payments such as Alipay, WeChatPay, GrabPay, and ShopeePay as well as ubiquitous SIM-based payments that can place charges against any mobile phone bill in the world. Merchants will be able to access customers in over 91 countries across Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.

Gr4vy’s cloud-native infrastructure platform modernizes payment orchestration. The only payment orchestration platform (POP) built natively in the Cloud, Gr4vy’s platform empowers merchants to manage payment methods, services and transactions, while eliminating single points of failure and shared infrastructure risks. Gr4vy can also spin up an Edge to any instance and deploy it where needed, regardless of location, to help merchants meet regional data privacy and protection regulations.

ELEVEN selects Gr4vy to aid international expansion and scale payments

ELEVEN, a global sports streaming provider, has chosen Gr4vy’s cloud-native payment orchestration platform (POP) to quickly implement customers’ locally preferred payment methods worldwide on its global OTT platform ElevenSports.com. ELEVEN selected Gr4vy for the platform’s advanced features and benefits, and its ability to provide quick access to multiple payment methods and providers with no additional coding required.

“Implementing new payment methods can be both costly and time consuming. From local payment methods to spinning up and down payment options, choice at checkout is key for customers,” said John Lunn, founder and CEO of Gr4vy. “ELEVEN delivers the best live coverage of the world’s biggest sporting events to local sport for under-served communities of fans. They offer online sports streaming like no one else. We’re honored to work with such a trusted name, while providing a cloud-native platform with payment optionality to support ELEVEN’s current growth and inevitable accelerated future expansion into new geographies.”

Check out the full ELEVEN case study here.

ELEVEN offers users around the world access to online streaming. The 24/7 service generates tens of millions of views per month from users from over 200 countries and territories, through a range of packages from free to periodic subscriptions.

Gr4vy’s cloud payments team carefully consulted on the payment method and features required to help ELEVEN to scale by adopting PayPal as a payment platform. Through PayPal – implemented through the Gr4vy platform – ELEVEN is now able to have recurring merchant-initiated transactions without the need to involve the consumer. This has allowed the company to achieve new user acquisition and global country coverage, without hiring or reassigning software developers.

“The team at Gr4vy is truly an extension of our internal product team. It takes a lot of development effort to get a new payment method live. We needed a provider with full coverage as we continue to grow internationally,” said Nick Aliwell, Director of Product of ELEVEN. “Gr4vy’s payment expertise, deep industry knowledge and POP allow us to move quickly and test different payment methods in each market in just a few clicks. All our self-built services run in the Cloud, so being able to run Gr4vy in the same region as our services is powerful.”

This announcement comes as streaming services have tapped into POPs to scale quickly in response to increasing consumer demand for over-the-top (OTT) streaming services. The online sports live video streaming market is projected to reach $87.3 million by 2028, pointing to increased opportunities for businesses to meet customer demand. Consumers, however, require a comprehensive experience from choice to checkout to complete the entire sales funnel. For businesses, that means payment optionality.

Gr4vy’s POP leverages the power of the cloud to give users the capability to streamline and manage payment methods, services, and transactions all in one place. Its orchestration layer upgrades a company’s payment stacks to make infrastructure nimbler. While its intuitive, no-code dashboard centralizes the integration and administration of payment methods, providers, conditions, and transactions. With Gr4vy, streaming services never have to lose a transaction again.

Gr4vy launches Magento Extension to empower merchants with modern payment infrastructure

Magento Extension and Akoova partnership enables merchants to offer advanced payment optionality

Gr4vy has announced the launch of its new, verified Gr4vy Magento extension. Merchants utilizing Adobe Commerce, powered by Magento, can now install the extension with little to no implementation time and gain immediate access to Gr4vy’s cloud-native payment orchestration platform (POP). Gr4vy’s Magento extension and platform represent a sea change in payment orchestration, allowing merchants to easily add new payment methods and providers and build custom payment workflows that enhance customers’ checkout experience – all from within Magento.

Gr4vy’s extension comes at a time when Magento handles over $155 billion in transactions every year and helps businesses create dynamic shopping experiences. The Magento platform offers basic default payment methods and acceptance of payments through several third-party services. Merchants who want to offer new payment types and methods, such as Buy Now Pay Later and Open Banking, must build separate integrations for each new payment type – adding time and cost. Gr4vy’s state-of-the-art Magento extension solves this pain point by allowing merchants to offer multiple payment options and providers through a single Gr4vy Magento extension.

“We wanted to create an extension of our cloud-native POP for Magento to help merchants make their payment stacks more nimble and versatile,” said John Lunn, CEO and Founder of Gr4vy. “Our cutting-edge POP is designed to help merchants easily deploy new payment methods and optimize payments acceptance while reducing security burdens, all without the need for coding. With more than 250,000 merchants worldwide using Magento, the platform was the perfect place to launch an extension of Gr4vy’s platform. Even better, merchants never need to leave their Magento Commerce admin panel to use it.”

As with any other Magento extension, merchants wishing to install Gr4vy’s extension can do so in just a few steps. Once installed, merchants receive dedicated cloud Instances and can deploy Edges in geographies close to their customers. Moreover, they can also take advantage of Gr4vy’s no-code dashboard to easily control what payment options are shown to each unique user and determine how each transaction routes to different payment services based on a predefined set of rules and criteria. Merchants can also access the platform’s key features and benefits, including:

  • An easy modern checkout that will automatically update their checkout page and reflect specific payment methods based on custom workflows without rewriting code.
  • A universal, PCI1 Certified Gr4vy Vault that allows merchants to move fluidly across current and future payment service providers, storing and securing customer payment details.
  • Customizable workflows that optimize transaction routing based on country, currency, time of day and reroute transactions due to downtime. Retailers can also design workflows to offer specific payment methods based on day of the week, time of day, or location.
  • No-code admin controls that provide merchants with tools to manage all payment methods, providers, workflows and conditions.
  • Centralized transaction reports that manage and consolidate transaction reports across all a merchant’s service providers.

In addition, Gr4vy has partnered with Akoova, Europe’s leading Magento hosting provider, to be the first to bring Gr4vy’s Magento extension to market. Gr4vy chose Akoova – known for its exceptional client experience – due to its deep knowledge and expertise of Magento, along with its proven track record at evolving their K-Hosting platform to ensure client scalability and stability. Just like Gr4vy’s payment orchestration infrastructure, Akoova’s K-Hosting has been developed with the needs of the most demanding merchants in mind.

As Akoova’s clients expand their international presence, selling either cross border or with localized sites, their payment infrastructure needs to be changed. These merchants need to add additional payment gateways, or more importantly, the payment methods their consumers demand in multiple countries. The addition of Gr4vy’s cloud-native POP allows merchants – like those of Akoova’s clients – to quickly add, remove and manage new payment options and gateways in a simple no-code interface. This accelerates international rollout exponentially, saving money and time. Given the wealth of knowledge in payments and Magento hosting by Gr4vy and Akoova respectively, the partnership sets both companies up for substantial market success. Both Gr4vy and Akoova share a like-minded passion for driving robust growth within the retail sector through game-changing innovation of mission-critical infrastructure.

Gr4vy partners with Banked and GoCardless to deliver merchants’ customers new ways to pay

Gr4vy has announced two new partnerships designed to transform and give optionality to how consumers pay with a bank account and empower merchants in the process. The new partnerships, now integrated into Gr4vy’s cutting-edge cloud-native payment orchestration platform (POP), are with Banked, the real-time payments network for consumers, businesses and banks, and GoCardless, a global fintech for account-to-account payments. With the payments industry moving toward open banking and real-time payment options, merchants who utilize Gr4vy’s POP can now offer customers the option to pay directly from a bank account with ease.

As part of the agreements between Gr4vy, GoCardless and Banked, merchants’ customers can now take advantage of open banking technology and direct debit payments to deliver more choice at checkout. Interchange fees have increased worldwide, leaving merchants to pay higher prices to accept credit cards. The ability to offer direct bank payment options provides an alternative to paying with a credit card and benefits merchants and customers alike. The addition of GoCardless and Banked payment options into Gr4vy’s POP constitutes significant ways to pay without credit cards and makes e-commerce more inclusive to millions of people globally.

“We evaluated merchant’s needs and the payments industry as a whole and recognized an increased need to deliver state-of-the-art and diverse ways to pay given the worldwide marketplace,” said John Lunn, CEO and Founder of Gr4vy. “Paying by credit card is always a viable option; however, the ability for consumers to pay directly from their bank account has become more critical due to costs merchants face when using other payment types. The increase in choice at checkout has also shown to increase sales. We’re proud to partner with Banked and GoCardless. Together we’re enabling merchants and their customers a simple, streamlined process while offering a variety of ways to pay based on their individual needs.”

The partnership between Gr4vy and GoCardless allows merchants’ customers to take advantage of worldwide payments directly from a bank account, whether they chose to use open banking for one-off payments or methods such as ACH Debit in the US, Direct Debit in the UK, and SEPA for the rest of Europe for recurring transactions. The addition of GoCardless, which processes over $20 billion in payments annually, gives merchants easy access to a trusted provider when it comes to account-to-account payments.

Thanks to the partnership between Gr4vy and Banked, merchants utilizing Gr4vy’s platform can now offer UK and European customers the option to select Pay by Bank as a payment method. Banked lets consumers securely checkout of an e-commerce basket with their mobile banking app, removing the need for cards or clunky registration processes. Banked also integrates with billing and invoicing platforms to allow consumers to instantly pay using QR codes and dynamic payment links. Banked supports a wide variety of bank providers within the UK and Europe, and the integration into Gr4vy’s platform allows merchants to take advantage of open banking technology.

Gr4vy’s cloud-native orchestration platform (POP) acts as a conduit between merchants’ e-commerce sites and payment providers and makes merchants’ payments stacks more nimble. Gr4vy offers Instances, which gives merchants individualized infrastructure in the Cloud, delivering the highest level of flexibility to manage payments and scale. Through Gr4vy’s POP, merchants can deploy across the globe and even on the Edge to ensure their customers always have the payment solutions and options they need regardless of location. Gr4vy’s customers can now add both Banked and GoCardless options in a matter of clicks from the company’s no-code admin layer and deploy in minutes, not weeks.

“Today’s consumers want more choice in how they pay; no longer is credit card the default or preferred option. One method that is gaining popularity is account-to-account payments, or those made from one bank account directly to another. Not only do they provide consumers a safer and more seamless way to pay, they lower costs and reduce churn for merchants too,” said Karl Stjernstrom, Head of Enterprise Partnerships for GoCardless. “We’re excited to offer these types of payments, from our best-in-class bank debit capability to new features harnessing open banking, to our joint customers with Gr4vy.”

“Gr4vy’s approach is cutting edge and is completely aligned with the merchant to reduce cost and increase conversion. Banked is excited to be integrated into the Gr4vy platform, building on our network of distributors. We believe the partnership with Gr4vy will be a way to accelerate the options available to both merchants and end consumers to drive down cost and increase payment security and efficiency,” said Brad Goodall, CEO and Co-Founder of Banked.

Gr4vy successfully completes PCI 1 Certification for added security

PCI Level 1 certification ensures merchants can securely store customer payment details in Gr4vy’s Vault

Gr4vy has announced its successful completion of PCI Level 1 certification, which ensures that partner companies store, transmit or process payment data to the highest security standards. Gr4vy’s PCI Level 1 compliant status results from undergoing a rigorous annual assessment with a qualified security advisor and an extensive self-assessment questionnaire, while meeting a set of established rules laid forth by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC). The certification establishes that Gr4vy has met the highest level of payment account data security and ensures merchants that utilize the cloud-native payment orchestration platform (POP) can be confident that their customer’s payment details are securely stored and protected within Gr4vy’s Vault.

“Given today’s current climate of data breaches and stolen financial details, security is of the utmost concern for merchants and their customers,” said John Lunn, founder and CEO of Gr4vy. “With the completion of this certification, we affirm that our cloud-native platform and PCI1 Certified Vault adheres to the highest level of security and data privacy. PCI standards ensure that merchants and their customers never have to worry about storing sensitive payment details or compromised data. We are firmly committed to maintaining PCI1 compliance and are proud to have achieved this certification.”

Gr4vy’s PCI1 Certified Vault is part of the company’s innovative cloud-native POP that acts as a conduit between merchants’ e-commerce sites and payment providers, and makes merchants’ payments stacks more nimble. Centralized reporting, monitoring and management mean all parts of a merchant’s business benefit from a single streamlined system.

Benefits and Features of Gr4vy’s Vault:

  • Gr4vy’s PCI1 Certified Vault allows merchants to move fluidly across their current and future payment service providers, storing and securing customer payment details in Gr4vy’s Vault.
  • The vault belongs to the merchant and prevents them from being locked into a single solution provider, at the same time allowing Gr4vy to create a one-click checkout experience.
  • With Gr4vy’s PCI1 Vault, merchants can endlessly switch their payment service providers (PSPs) without concern over whether or not their customer payment details will transfer seamlessly.

“As we set out to build our cloud-native POP, we recognized the need to provide merchants with the assurance and flexibility to store vital payment details,” said Ali Minaei, co-founder and CTO of Gr4vy. “With this certification, we have positioned Gr4vy as a leading payments orchestration platform within the industry and will continue to offer the security, features, and benefits merchants need to run their business. By using Gr4vy, merchants of all sizes no longer need to worry about being PCI Certified to accept online payments as Gr4vy takes that complexity away from the merchants.”

Gr4vy announces a $15m Series A extension funding to accelerate rapid growth

The cloud-native payments orchestration platform has secured a $15 million extension funding to accelerate its product roadmap and meet merchant demand, bringing its total Series A funding to $27.2 million

As e-commerce sales continue to grow and more companies are expanding internationally, payment orchestration has become even more important. McKinsey projects that by 2025, global payments revenue will reach roughly $2.5T, and by 2024, e-commerce retail sales are expected to account for 21.8% of all retail sales worldwide. Merchants looking to capture a share of the market need a payments orchestration platform (POP) that offers payment infrastructure and the ability to scale.

The $15 million in Series A extension funding, led by March Capital, a top-tier venture capital firm known for investing in companies poised for hyper-growth globally, with participation from Nyca Partners, Activant Capital and Plug and Play Ventures, will be used to accelerate its product roadmap and meet merchant demand.

“Worldwide growth in various payment methods and processors has led merchants to build increasingly complex payment infrastructure that’s highly inflexible when it comes to the fintech and payments market,” said John Lunn, founder and CEO of Gr4vy. “Payment orchestration shouldn’t be overly complicated. Our cloud-native POP delivers modern payment infrastructure and allows merchants to expand and manage payment methods, services and transactions in a no-code/low code fashion with just a few clicks. As we continue to supercharge merchants’ payment stacks and deliver new products and services, we’re honored to have the backing of such trusted names in venture capital, such as March Capital.”

“Digital payments methods today come in more forms than ever before, resulting in merchants feeling overwhelmed. There are BNPL providers, credit cards, account-to-account services, crypto and a wide array of local payment solutions – all of which differ by geography and require engineering teams to integrate,” said Solomon Hailu, Partner of March Capital. “March is excited to partner with John and the Gr4vy team as they help merchants simplify and manage payment infrastructure via a cloud-native, easy-to-use, orchestration platform at a time when e-commerce strategy is mission critical.”

The recent series brings Gr4vy’s total funding to $27.2M. Since its launch in April, the company has nearly doubled its valuation, reflecting its strong growth and its demonstrated value to merchants globally.

“It used to be easy for merchants to implement a payments infrastructure, but over the past 10 years it has become numbingly complex,” said Hans Morris of Nyca. “Companies really just want to sell their goods and services, accept whatever payment works best for the customer, and minimize their cost and risk. Sounds simple, right? But it’s a nightmare, and since the payments environment keeps changing at a dizzying speed, even big global merchants don’t have the engineering resources to devote to this. That’s why Gr4y is perfect for this moment. And the team John has built is widely respected for their payments expertise and credibility.”

Gr4vy redefines the payments industry and payment orchestration by empowering merchants to grow their payment services without months of coding and in just a few clicks, ensuring customers always have the payment solutions and options they need worldwide. Acting as a conduit between merchants’ shopping carts and payment providers, Gr4vy’s POP upgrades merchants’ payments stack and payment methods to make them more agile.
